Parent Responsibilities
    On arrival please SIGN YOUR CHILD IN on the roll at the outside table. Bring your child into the Centre when sessions start to ensure his/her safety. If someone else besides yourself is picking up your child please write this in the book next to the roll, also on the outside table. Please provide your child with a named bag, a piece of fruit, a named sunsafe hat (broad brimmed or legionnaire styles only) and a drink bottle of water. Send fruit only, as we are an "Eat Well Be Active" site and support and promote healthy eating and physical activity.

    Please send your child in play clothes so that he/she can enjoy the activities provided without worrying about their clothes. Smocks are provided for painting and messy activities. Sneakers and lace up shoes are best for climbing. Thongs are unsuitable.

PLEASE LABEL ALL YOUR CHILD'S ITEMS.

    We do not encourage children to bring toys, games, dolls etc. from home. Toys are often broken, lost or misappropriated and are not part of the kindergarten learning environment. If children have an article which enriches or provides information on a topic the children are involved in, please see the teacher who will look after the article until it can be used at group time to show and tell.

Parent Involvement
    A Governing Council is elected by the parents each year to help staff run the Centre. The committee meets twice a term (week 3 and 8) and is responsible for the financial management, maintenance and upgrading of the building, grounds and resources. All parents are welcome to come along to these meetings. Your involvement is always welcome and greatly appreciated in all these areas.

    In any Centre there are always many ongoing jobs and repairs to be done to ensure maximum safety and learning opportunities. The committee may ask for your support with these jobs from time to time.

    We recognise that parents are children's first educators. It is the responsibility of both teachers and parents to work together to support one another. We recognise that each child is a unique person. This uniqueness is a product of each child's background and experiences. The kindergarten and home should work together to complement and support your child's learning.

How can you as parent's help?

  • Stay for a session to read to, or help children with puzzles
  • Share a skill you have with the children: cooking, craft, music or a second language.
  • Help in preparing teaching materials
  • Save waste materials: boxes, card, soft wood, ice-cream containers
  • Help with the recycling program
  • Washing, you will be asked to do this once or twice a year
